“Be Eiko Hayashi”

You take a swig of energy drink and log out of Fair Mage Online. The game had been fairly boring since your character had reached level 50, which was the current cap. Deciding that you’re done with FMO, you move its shortcut into the folder marked “done with this shit” and open pesterchum. Only one of your friends appears to be online, but fortunately he plays FMO, so you open a chat log and start complaining.

Pesterlog:

After you finish talking to your friend and log out of pesterchum, you pick up the potion you had mentioned and take it into the bathroom with you. You pour it down the drain and rinse the bottle, setting it on a rudimentary drying rack above the toilet. You then close the door and turn on the shower, waiting for it to heat up as you brush your teeth.

"Eiko: Be Taci Bechtel"

You stumble out of your calculus lecture, feeling utterly lost. You really thought you understood derivatives, but as soon as they started making you do complicated numerical problems, all of the irrational, supposedly helpfully named new rules started blurring together into a mess of x's and e's and exponents. You sigh at yourself for having signed up for this stupid general education requirement so soon. Now you'll have to ask your over-privileged roommate for help.

With all of your worries about calculus, the idea of heading to lunch to laugh it off with friends sounds great...except that the only person you see who you really know is your roommate. You certainly don't want to listen to her mockery of your lack of calculus experience, so when she asks you if you want to go to lunch with her, you say that you have to check on something and sit on a nearby couch with your laptop.

Since you're online anyways, you might as well check pesterchum. None of your projects, you mean online friends, should be available right now, since it's the middle of a school day, but the icon next to Eiko's name is lit up anyways. You shake your head at her skipping school again before messaging her. Time to feel better about your intelligence check on your friend.

Pesterlog:

Never mind finding friends to eat with; lunch will be closed all too soon. You shove your laptop in your backpack and start power-walking to the dining hall. After all, sitting with strangers should be a great chance to make some desperately needed new friends!

You enter your room and head directly to your computer. The screen right in front of the keyboard displays a recent chat between CL and RL. In the conversation between CL and FV, there was talk of a new game and a tutorial was mentioned, and you get the feeling that RL is going to be invited with how chummy they are getting. You want more info on this new game. It might be worth your time to invest in (seeing as you have so much free time now), and if it isn't, you want to know before you waste it.

You know that typically AC and CL talk about games and such, so you decide to try and pester AC, since CL is offline not. Turns out that AC is also offline, but IA is online. Well, since IA seems to talk to AC so much, you figure you might as well try to pump him for information.

You begin to pester him.

Pesterlog:

Well, that went horrible.

Not only did you fuck up the introductions, you almost let too much information slip, and you somehow managed to find the file you lost when you were thirteen. Which locked up your main hard drive. And stalled out all your programs. Except for pesterchum. At least that didn't go wrong.

Looks like you really need to work on the whole interacting with other people thing. Good thing it wasn't someone else, otherwise you would have been well and truly screwed.

You grudgingly end your reflection on the hideous disaster that was your recent conversation, and begin the arduous task of shutting down the rouge program and regaining control of your computer.

Jack: Be Amit

You are scrolling through Pesterchum's list of people. It appears as though there is only one CL in all of Pesterchum. Presumably, this is the CL that CT mentioned. You decide to message this mysterious person.

Pesterlog:

Perfect! You think you just gained an ally for the future. You didn't think that anyone would believe you so soon. You currently know three of the seven other players. Of them, two are very likely to be allies. Yo hope to talk to CT again before the game starts. Three allies would be half of the group once you include yourself. It seems like a decent goal for the improvement of your social abilities.
